If you would like to train as a mediator and volunteer with EMS then you can contact us and ask for your contact details to be added to our database of interested persons.
We train new mediators approx. once every two years and train around 12 - 16 at a time. Once the funding has been secured and the dates of the training agreed then we contact everyone on our waiting list and offer them the opportunity to attend a presentation and selection event.
The training course is seven days (usually over weekday evenings and/or weekends) spread over a two month period.
Five days are basic mediation skills training, one day is formal assessment and one half day is induction.
Attendance at all these training sessions is vitally important and those who cannot commit should not apply.
Those who successfully complete the couse receive an induction pack and are invited to observe mediations before co-mediating with more experienced volunteers.
The last course was run in February/March 2007.
Our next course starts with a presentation/selection event on 10.2.10 followed by Saturday course dates throughout March and April (except easter weekend) and induction in May. We have a database of over 70 people interested in training with us.If you wish to apply for this training then you shoulkd contact us and complete and application pack by no later than 22.1.10.
At the moment we have sufficient mediators to cover cases until May 2010.
Our Management Committee is made up of volunteers who have an interest in mediation.
There are formal positions such as Chair, Treasurer, Secretary and Mediator Rep and then there are other members who just need to commit to reading the reports, attending meetings regularly and taking part in the discussions and the decision making process.
The Management Committee forms a board of trustees and takes overall responsibility for the running of the service including work programme and finances.
We currently have a small number of vacancies so interested persons should contact us for more details. The existing Management Committee believes strongly in regular attendance and team players.
We are particularly looking for members with HR or PR skills/experience.
We often have other volunteering opportunities from time to time.
You can contact us for details or speak to the Volunteer Centre at Ealing CVS on 020 8280 2241
