Kingston Friends Mediation (KFM) has successfully bid for monies from City Bridge Trust to run a peer mediation in schools project in six schools (including two or three in Ealing).
They will be working in partnership with us 2007/9 and utilising some of our mediators to deliver this project.
We envisage that this ground work will enable our Service to continue and expand this project in Ealing.
So far we have identified up to 12 mediators from our Service who wish to be involved.
KFM approached EMS at the point of application for funding in December 2006 and asked EMS permission to work in Ealing schools and involve EMS in the project.
Once the bid was known to be successful in Spring 2007, KFM produced a briefing paper and EMS sounded out which of its mediators might wish to get involved.
KFM made a presenation to EMS Management Committee in November 2007.
EMS and KFM met with Ealing Council's schools anti-bullying officer Ali Langston in January 2008 to discuss potential schools for the project.
EMS has engaged a design & marketing volunteer, Gurpreet Gill, from January 2008 to shadow the project n terms of producing suitable publicity.
A meeting was arranged for 2.2.08 for all interested EMS to meet with KFM, and with Ali Langston, to find out more about the project and restorative justice in schools.
A second meeting was arranged for 26.4.08 to review the training programme and try out some of the training materials.
KFM will be identifying and speaking to suitable schools over the summer and training in schools will start from September 2008.
